PETROLEUM & RISK MANAGEMENT
WORKSHOP (FREE) NBB MEMBERS ONLY*
Record high fuel prices, energy security
concerns and economic development policies
are driving unprecedented growth for the U.S.
and global biodiesel industries. What is driving
petroleum prices: crude oil supply, refining
capacity, political turmoil or a combination of
all factors? With favorable blend economics,
will global demand place pressure on raw
material supplies and prices? How will
domestic policy factor into future growth?
What do changes in these dynamics mean for
the biodiesel industry? This workshop for
current biodiesel producers will provide an
outlook into the petroleum market, fats and
oils, potential risk management tools and a
glimpse at energy priorities of the 110th
Congress.

GENERAL SESSION 25: ODYSSEY TO AMERICA:
REFLECTIONS OF A HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR
Keynote Speaker: John G. Stoessinger, PhD
As a youngster, John Stoessinger cheated death
numerous times. He escaped from the Nazis,
the Soviets, the Japanesen and then the
Chinese Communists. During this odyssey, his
life was saved by a Chinese consul, two
Japanese diplomats and a generous American
soldier whose shoes he shined in Shanghai, and
who got him a scholarship to an American
college. Decades later, after receiving his PhD
from Harvard, he was able to thank these men
for their selfless generosity.
It's a story of survival and of gratitude and has
universal appeal.
Dr. Stoessinger will blend the insights from his
life as a refugee from tyranny with reflections
about the current dramatic transformations in
world politics, including the impact of these
changes on the biodiesel industry. A question
and answer session will follow his presentation.
