A GREEN Event!
 Thank you for your interest in attending the National Biodiesel Conference. We have filled all of our volunteer/trade positions for this year. Thank you all for responding.
SPITFIRE GREEN TEAM
The National Biodiesel Board has teamed up with The Spitfire Agency, to “Green” our conference. What this means is that we are making our best efforts to minimize our environmental impact by looking at all that we are doing, and asking ourselves if there is a more responsible way of doing it. Some of this starts in advance of the event, for example, printing our materials on 100% recycled paper. But most of it happens on site. If you volunteer for the Green Team, you will get a free badge in exchange for working 50% of the convention hours. This badge will get you into all of the convention panels, parties and meals (except those that have an additional cost for all badge holders).
Spitfire Waste Reclamation Stations |
Although there are some other tasks involved, one of the main job functions is what we call “Garbage Goalies”. These people stand at our Waste Reclamation Stations and help vendors and attendees understand what goes where, and why. Because we have so many unique products on site that people haven’t seen before (bio-plastic cups, sugar cane plates, wheat cutlery & more!), this is actually a lot harder then it sounds, and requires quick responses, an upbeat attitude, and a lot of patience educating people. The work is social, fun, and usually has you in the same rooms that you would be in if you were a normal attendee, so you won’t miss much. But it’s also a very important project for us, so we ask that you please only apply if you are serious about working hard, don’t mind getting your hands dirty, and have a genuine interest in learning about Greening.
