Next Generation of Scientists for Biodiesel Learns From Mentors

From exciting feedstock research to the comparative cost of carbon reduction strategies, biodiesel research and outreach projects are on the rise at universities and colleges around the country.

At the 2021 National Biodiesel Conference and Expo, the Next Generation of Scientists for Biodiesel (NGSB) spent a good deal of time networking in zoom rooms with mentors from the industry. In addition, NGSB co-chair Jenny Frank, State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, moderated a panel featuring biodiesel researchers.

Joining Jenny were Susan Williams, Director of the KU Biodiesel Initiative; Renewable Energy Group Manager for Quality Support Kelsey Erickson; and Dr. Robert L. McCormick, Senior Research Fellow at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). NBB Director of Environmental Science Matt Herman also contributed to the discussion.

In closing comments, all of the panelists agreed that there is increased interest among universities and colleges in biodiesel research and studies.
